Vice Ganda and Coco Martin’s Beauty And The Bestie Tops MMFF 2015 entry of the 41st commemoration of the prestigious MMFF (Metro Manila Film Festival).
Beauty and The Bestie claims No. 1 spot as MMFF 2015 entries gross P915 million which ran through Christmas Day, December 25, 2015, into the first weekend of the 2016 according to PEP. The victory was revealed by the Star Cinema Adprom director Roxy Liquigan and the lead stars, Vice Ganda, Coco Martin,Nadine Lustre and James Reid in the social media, and immediately received warm congratulations from their fans and everyone who watched and had fun watching the movie.
The famous comedian, Vice Ganda, initially expressed his gratitude to everyone though his post saying, “THANKS to you, Madlang People for making us number 1 in your hearts”, during the second showing week, when the movie reached a gross of 300 million.
Beauty and the Bestie, produced by Viva Films, is an action-comedy which runs in the story of a policeman who needed the help of his best friend to impersonate the daughter of a foreign dignitary in a beauty pageant in order to solve an important case. The casts of the film has surely won the humor of the Filipino viewers as it has become one of the most watched films among the many entries.
It was actually no longer surprising to know that Beauty and the Bestie has gone this far in MMFF 2015 if we recall the performances of Vice Ganda’s entries in the previous years. His entries in the previous festivals include Petrang Kabayo, Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy, Sisterakas, The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin, and The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin, which were all directed by the most promising comedy film director – Wenn V. Deramas.
Beauty and the Bestie was followed by My Bebe Love, Haunted Mansion and #WalangForever in MMFF 2015 gross, respectively. Nonetheless, this ranking does not claim the totality of the entries’ victory as a lot of awards considering the direction, cinematography and others categories were also given to those who bested.
